Simple Changes Equal Big Impact

I work with many clients who wish to update their home while incorporating existing furniture.  Here are some ways I have accomplished that:

1. Paint the walls.  Many clients still have the warm gold colors that were so popular.  Today’s popular Sherwin Williams colors include agreeable gray, worldly gray and repose gray.  Always do test swatches on your walls first.

2. Break up all that brown furniture!  Intersperse a cocktail or end table that has a glass top and metal legs.  Add some colorful pillows to your sofa.

3.  Update your light fixtures in key areas: entry, formal dining, and casual dining.  Clients are always amazed at what a difference it makes.  While you are at it, buy taller lamps that have a colored glass base for your living areas and master bedroom.

4. Add some abstract art to your walls.  This is a very big trend, even with traditional furniture.  I love abstract art, since it is usually multi-color, making it easy to incorporate into any space.
